Katō has a smoothly crafted timber structure in complete focus. The armchair brings natural tactility and a subtle design aesthetic with timeless simplicity.
Flowing round the back of the chair in a horseshoe form, Katō’s wide, elliptical arm rail invites you to rest your hands upon it and feel the chair’s natural wood grain texture at your fingertips.
Named after Katô Shidzue, one of Japan’s first female activists in the postwar period. Katō strived for economic independence and began her mission to propagate birth control education in Japan.
The Japanese respect for timber, nature, and craftsmanship has influenced the Katō collection from initial concepts to the final production model. With an increased emphasis on organic lines, natural colors, textures, and carefully crafted spaces, the result is a more harmonious environment in which to sit.
